Fashion as glass sculpture
Fashion and design have always been in synergy. We have been looking for an artist who can leave his "sign" to the Campomaggi brand, meeting the design philosophy of handmade bags. In our research we found a singular artist, Daniela Poletti: with her glass sculptures in bright colors, she manages to communicate an entirely new and high-level art experience. The singularity of her creations is the result of the glass fusion technique: this is a practice used to join different pieces, merging them partially at high temperature. The fusion process requires multiple pieces of glass and Poletti searches for them in Murano, a little island near Venice. The artist reinvented the use of Murano glass, obtaining pieces of different colors, cutting them masterfully from whole slabs. During Fuorisalone, we want to exhibit her works, focusing on the precious contrast between her brittle creations such as The Dancer or Diamond Table (in the main windows, further pieces are inside the store) and the lasting beauty of the bags over time. Most of Poletti's works are made in unique pieces and the glass takes shape, illuminating in its frangibility. The resistant leather of the bags is so physical and fragrant and it is a life time experience. During the Milan Design Week, these two materials are in perfect dialogue in the evocative setting of the C.so Como store.
